He began writing short stories at the age of ten, and never quite stopped, even through twenty-five years as a digital publisher and content creator. He writes in natural, everyday English, for young readers across India and for Indians around the world who still carry home with them: its languages, its food, its rain and its families. Ten Out of Ten is his first novel.
In his words
Why Munnar
“I was not yet ten the first time I saw Munnar. I remember only the cold, the smell of the tea, and the mist coming down over the hills so suddenly that the whole world disappeared, and then, just as suddenly, came back. I have been going back ever since, in every season.
This story began in 2020, during the long, strange months of the lockdown. It started with one picture in my head: a young bride on a hilltop in Munnar, holding a cup of tea, and a small black bird dropping out of a tree. Everything else grew from that picture, over more drafts than I can count.”
