About the book
“The day my husband tried to kill me, it had been raining for three days straight.”
Priya is twenty-four, with a master's degree in social work, forty-one job applications behind her, and a mother with a new hobby: matrimony apps. Then the horoscopes arrive. Rahul, a quiet bank officer from a respected Thrissur family, matches her ten out of ten. A once-in-a-blue-moon perfect match.
So why won't he smile in a single photo? Why does one letter, A, keep lighting up his phone at night? And why, on their honeymoon in Munnar, with a red alert over the hills, does he go so quiet when she plans a sunset picnic on a lonely hilltop?
A flask of tea. A sea of cloud. A small black bird with a red beak. In one evening in the mist, everything Priya believed about her perfect marriage comes apart.
A year later, in Kochi, she is trying to start again. Then her phone rings late at night. A number that is always switched off. Someone humming Kerala's best-loved lullaby. And a feeling she cannot shake: whatever happened on that hill did not stay there.
Told with humour, heart and the sudden rain of the Western Ghats, Ten Out of Ten is a gripping romantic suspense novel about the labels women are made to carry, the families who judge them, and the long road from betrayal to forgiveness.

Meet the first three
Priya
Twenty-four, a social-work graduate from Alappuzha with a spreadsheet of forty-one job applications, mostly red. Very good at understanding people. Not so good at using it on herself.
Amma
A retired Malayalam teacher who raised Priya alone, and has just discovered matrimony apps. She scrolls them slowly, with one finger, like she is defusing a bomb.
Jincy
Priya's best friend since fifth standard, now a nurse in Kochi. Works eighteen hours a day and spends the other six roasting Priya's life on video call.
Words you'll meet
The book keeps Malayalam words the way people actually say them. Here are a few, and there's a full glossary at the back.
