Munnar is real. Mist Valley Resort is not.
Munnar is real, and so are its hills, its tea estates and its sudden rain.
But many places in this book are not. Some I made up, and some I have stretched a little, made higher, lonelier or more dangerous than they really are, for the sake of the story.
Mist Valley Resort, Kuttan chettan and every person in the book came out of my imagination, though some of them may remind you of someone you know.
If you ever go to Munnar, go early, while the mist is still sitting in the valley. And if a small black bird with a red beak lands near you, say hello from me.
